Are Routine Pelvic Exams Still Appropriate?

Are routine pelvic exams still appropriate? A recent article from the American College of Physicians suggested that they aren’t necessary. The ACP said the benefits of exams (e.g. finding pathology) were outweighed by the risks (e.g. discomfort, embarrassment). I agree with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, who continue to support regular exams as a smart way to find problems early. Read more here:
